Ariagna Perello, is a single mother and Newark’s first Female Latina as President of the Newark Board of Education, has devoted most of her life training, empowering and mentoring young women in the area of the Arts. Graduate of the New York Institute of Art and Design . Currently is a small business owner and a Notary Public. She began her public service career in 2003 where she was the pageant coordinator for the Dominican Statewide Parade and Festival of New Jersey then in 2005 founded the Miss Latina New Jersey Pageant, 2009 was elected President of the Dominican Day Parade and Festival of Essex County, 2012 appointed to the Newark Board of Education and in 2013 became an elected Board Member. In 2014 made history by becoming the 1st Dominican Vice President and in 2015 , the 1st Latina President of the Board . In 2016 was the Second Vice President of the Central Ward Democratic Committee . Currently is a District Leader for the Central Ward , is a member of the Newark Chapter of NALEO, Dominican Elected Appointed Official, Commissioner of the Newark Women Status Commission , Member of LUPE , Leadership Newark and Emerge NJ Alumni .
